1. Overview

In 2016, our sports training program was approved by the Ministry of Education and the General Administration of Sport of China to organize independent admissions examinations in advance. Admissions began in 2017, with enrollment plans of 90 students in 2017, and 80 students each in 2018 and 2019. In line with the local economic and social development needs of Guangxi and the level of competitive sports development, our sports training program has established a school-bureau cooperative training model. This includes a special admissions plan for 20 athletes registered with the General Administration of Sport of China from various training units directly under the Guangxi Sports Bureau. The program aims to train specialized talents capable of engaging in sports training, teaching, competition, and management.

2. Program Objectives

Rooted in Guangxi, serving the nation, radiating to ASEAN, and facing the world, the program aims to cultivate high-quality, well-rounded talents who develop morally, intellectually, physically, aesthetically, and in labor. These individuals should possess social responsibility, legal awareness, professional ethics, innovative spirit, practical ability, and an international vision. They should master the basic theories and methods of sports training, teaching, competition, and management, possess strong sports skills and the ability to guide sports training and organize competitions, and be capable of engaging in sports training, teaching, competition organization, and management in professional teams, sports schools, school teams, and clubs.

(1)  Cultivate well-rounded talents with correct values, legal awareness, professional ethics, innovative spirit, social responsibility, good physical and mental qualities, and a scientific cultural foundation.

(2)  Master solid foundational theoretical knowledge in sports human science, general sports training theories, and specialized training theories.

(3)  Possess strong sports skills and the ability to guide sports training and organize competitions, making them high-quality, multi-skilled talents capable of working in professional teams, sports schools, school teams, clubs, and other departments in roles related to sports training, teaching, competition organization, and management.

3. Graduation Requirements

The sports training program relies on the resources and advantages of Guangxi’s key universities. Based on market demand and the characteristics of the university, it advocates for cross-professional and interdisciplinary elective courses, emphasizing specialization and strengthening secondary skills. The program aims to cultivate students who possess solid foundational knowledge in competitive sports theories, modern general sports training theories, specialized sports training theories, and public knowledge. Graduates should have strong sports skills, the ability to guide sports training, and organize competitions. They should also possess social responsibility, legal awareness, professional ethics, innovative spirit, strong practical abilities, and be well-rounded high-quality sports talents. The basic graduation requirements are as follows:

Students should love their country, have correct political positions, worldviews, life views, and values; possess good moral character and scientific development views; abide by laws and regulations, be honest and trustworthy, have upright conduct, possess a sound personality and social responsibility, have a spirit of collectivism, cooperation, dedication, and scientific ethics devoted to the pursuit of truth and scientific education. They should develop morally, intellectually, physically, aesthetically, and in labor, embodying both virtue and talent.

Students should have knowledge and literacy in the fields of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and innovation and entrepreneurship. They should be proficient in a foreign language and computer application knowledge, understand the dynamics of sports reform and development, and have high information literacy.

Students should systematically master basic theoretical knowledge in sports human science, general sports training theories, and specialized training theories. They should have solid specialized skills and practical abilities in specialized sports training, understand the current status and forefront dynamics of related disciplines, and knowledge of healthy lifestyles. They should have the basic ability to apply their knowledge comprehensively to solve practical problems.

Students should possess the ability for autonomous learning and self-development, be innovative and entrepreneurial, have a public service consciousness, and be capable of engaging in social service work related to sports.

Students should have good language and writing skills, social skills, teamwork abilities, and a certain international perspective.

Students should meet the national excellent standards for university student physical health and have a healthy body and good psychological quality.

Graduates of this program will mainly work in various amateur sports schools, professional or occupational sports teams, sports clubs, school teams, and other relevant departments, engaging in specialized sports training, teaching, competition organization, and management. From the perspective of the application fields and employment directions of undergraduate students, the program should broaden students' knowledge, consolidate foundational professional knowledge, enhance graduates' competitiveness in job selection, and improve their adaptability to work, thereby achieving the training objectives of the program.
