As of right now, you are already known for the value that you bring. Many people come to me and say, “I need to build a platform.” The truth is, you already have a platform and a reputation. Today you have the unique opportunity to choose. How do you want to be known?
Choose to be known for the One Thing and be the very best at it. Always be adding tremendous, relevant value and you will begin to be known everywhere you go and everywhere you are seen for the value that you bring.
Don’t focus on getting the sale from the get-go; people find it annoying and it is extremely short-sighted and immature. Yes, sell to serve as my friend Ivonne Delaflor puts it. Sell after you have focused on giving first.
Give first, Sell, Serve.
Define the need or challenge your ideal client or customer has. Don’t race off to find the most desperate people, people with no experience or those looking for a savior; unless that is who you choose to serve. Seek to attract those in the middle of their troubled situation actively looking for ways to improve their situation and challenge them.
Always be challenging people to step up; to rise to the occasion. Get them to see the best in themselves and help them inspire themselves to take the appropriate actions.
Value and relevance can be in you being candid and speaking straight to the challenge they are in.
Help the viewer, listener or reader understand that you fully grasp their situation and give them the key steps in solving the problem. Don’t tell them all of the how-to details; it won’t help them and you’ll end up shooting yourself in the foot.
They will not follow the details as you recommended anyway and you will end up being blamed for any potential failure. They can also get bogged down in the details. Give real value and demonstrate how you have helped others just like them through it successfully already.
It’s fantastic that you have content – everyone does. If you are going to go through the time in transferring it from your mind to text or video or audio, be sure you know the audience that you will be communicating with to the best of your ability and make sure that what you provide always gets them more in alignment into where you want to take them and where they need to go.
General information has the value of a wooden nickel; it can be found anywhere for free.
Become a trusted “fluff filter” and only give information that moves the individual forward and closer to their goal.
When it comes time for you to give the way people can connect with you, be sure that your value has built a bridge from where they are currently to where you want them to go. They will see it as their goal, you can provide them a short cut through working with you as their best, next step.
What gets attention is your perspective on information; selecting, filtering, organizing and connecting the dots. The best-selling content creators are excellent organizers and marketers of valuable information.
